I managed to get hold of the leaked game, and am playing it right now, if people have questions... feel free to ask them and I shall answer them to the best of my ability.

Note: I hope people here are smart enough to exercise common sense but in the possible event some people aren't - don't ask me where to get the leaked game, how to circumvent the anti-piracy measures etc. etc.

So, fire away.

Other than the luckluster character customization (which I guess is excusable on the DS) it's pretty fun so far, and quite challenging too. Rayburn (PS0's dragon) kicked my RAmarl's ass a few times before I managed to beat it.

Thats what you get for being a gunner.

May as well make this post worthwhile. Hows the combat? Anything specific that makes it feel very different to PSO?

It feels a lot like PSO's combat, but with improvements. It has the more rigid feel of PSO's combat compared to PSU. With special attacks gone, special effects now have a random chance of proccing when you attack in general.

The lock-on from PSO remains, but you can use L to lock on to targets and have the camera follow them as well. The roll doesn't seem that great, but I'm not used to it so maybe I just suck. The Photon Arts are pretty cool, ones I've seen so far include:

* Cross Rave (Saber), where you do two slashes in the shape of a cross.
* Wipeouter (Rifle), where you fire a spray of bullets and then chuck a grenade.
* Bullet Dance (Gunslash), where you fire bullets in all directions while breakdancing.
* Fanny Dive (Wand), you, er, leap into the air and land on your butt.
* Thriller Combo (Handgun), fire a series of powerful shots, followed by a single area effect blast.

The music for Dairon City isn't great, but the music for Gurhacia Valley (only level I've played so far) is really nice, it switches seamlessly into the battle music and back again just like PSO. Haven't heard the rare enemy music since I haven't encountered any yet.

Oh, and Gurhacia Valley is the official English name, by the by.

Gurhacia? Odd, but I like it more that Glacea, since that name always made me think of glaciers; quite the opposite of the landscape.

Glad to hear the switch works well. Personally, I'm hoping this game has a song (or songs) as amazing as "Revolution to the origin." That was, as far as I'm concerned, the best level theme from PSO.

Go to the menu, last option (システム) then first option (セーブ).

Also, expanding on the music question, I encountered Rappies in Rioh Snowfield (which has really good music, by the way) and they have their own pretty upbeat theme. Sadly I didn't know they run off in the same way PSO Rappies do, so I don't know what they drop (if anything - most monsters do not drop items in the game, it appears), but a friend got them earlier and said he got a Rappy Mag cell that requires a Lv50 Mag.

What flashcard are you using? Try deleting the save file it has created on your memory card and see if that helps.

Edit: I ran into Rappies again, it seems like it's impossible to shoot them when they're running away. But in the box that appeared after defeating them I got a Mag Cell that requires a level 60 mag. The Mag Cell is called Rappy's Spirit (although knowing the translation team it'll inevitably be named something clunky like Heart of Rappy).

The flashcard I'm using is no$GBA :v

And hm.. deleting it doesn't seem to fix it. It doesn't replace the sav itself either though

No$GBA doesn't work with the game, at least not when I tried it. It crashed after entering story mode. In any case I don't know how to configure no$GBA for the correct save option, though when I tried it EEPROM 64k seemed to work.

Forgot to say thanks for the menu info. That was very handy. <:
It runs on no$gba, suprisingly, its the saving stuff I'm trying to get sorted. Atm caught in an infuriating struggle to find out where its pulling garbage save data from, as its making it impossible to try out the other memory settings.

e: Well that sucks. eepram64 is the only setting under which saves will stick, flash 512 is the only setting where the game will actually load past character creation it seems.

e2: It works fine on iDeaS. Sound simulation is shitty, alas, but it works.

oyea, andwhercanidwnloadzgamplz?

Hey if I asked that in french they'd never know the link you give points to a pirated copy of the game!

I have a couple of questions if you dont mind:
1. How does the quest and personal counter feel to you? I mean does it do a good job of displaying your stats, monster list, and item list?

2. Can you easily skip dialog and cutscenes if you need to?

3. And finally how are the menus in general? Clean and easy to use?

-thanks

1. I thought it was too bad it didn't list anything about the monsters/weapons other than what they look like :/, but otherwise it seems fine. There's a reward system like in PSP too, which is cool.
2. Real easy. There's a few small few 'cut-scenes' you can't skip (stage introductions, haven't tried boss fights), but if you want, you can get away with not waiting for any of the dialogue at all.
3. PSO-style. i.e. there is some L/R-ing around here and there, but nothing new.

Oh, did anyone else notice attacks using FO-weapons use MST rather than ATP? It's great.

Oh you.

Not sure how many quests there are, I've done two of the main quests so far and I have a sub quest available that I haven't completed. That's all so far. New quests are unlocked by doing the Main quests so I guess there's a fair few more yet.

Haha. It crashes on her, too D:

So I'm guessing its crashing because all these NPCs are shops, right?

The woman in the 1st picture is where you access your trunk, player trunk (like common box in PSU) and records, including item and monster libraries and titles.

Second lady is the item shop, where you buy mates/fluids/traps/technique disks (inb4 they're localized as TECHNICs for no reason again).

Third is the weapon shop, where you can also buy armour and units despite the name.

Well darn. This game's gonna get a might tough without access to those things. :< I did reload the rom with the save from iDeaS into no$GBA and it loaded and got in-game successfully, but if ANY dialogue sequences come up it ends up giving the same load of errors you'd get before when the cutscene ends after making a character.

Great, thanks for answering my questions. About question 1., it is disappointing that there are no weapon or monster descriptions in the Database. Are there at least descriptions of weapons or monsters in your main menus? like in the item/ equipment sections for example.

Wait, I think it does give descriptions for monsters, and also stats for weapons. Example:

Weapon:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/ra ... Z/ex02.jpg

Monster:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y29/ra ... Z/ex04.jpg

To get them press Y in the galleries. Y to switch back.

Wait. The game was made by Sonic Team? I don't think I understand how they can make a (seemingly) good and well-rounded game like this, on their own, while at the same time having made PSU. Or maybe the wikipedia page is wrong?

It's not been asked, but here, have some spoilers (quote the post to view):

The areas in the story as are follows (in the order I did them as a Human):
* Gurhacia Valley
* Rioh Snowfield
* Ozette Wetland
* Oblivion City Paru
* Can't remember the English name of the fifth one, sorry!
* Arca Plant
* Dark Shrine

Final boss has two forms: First is Mother Trinity, a Mother Brain-esque computer. After beating her, she becomes PS0's incarnation of your favourite lovable dark god, Dark Falz. Interesting and unique fight, arguably the best Falz fight yet (although, to be honest, not exactly hard to surpass the PSU incarnations).

After beating the story, Hard mode is unlocked and can be selected when you choose a field to go to or a quest to play. One of the subquests added takes you to a new (non-story related) area, called Eternal Tower, which is a survival-esque tower where you fight one monster spawn per floor. The monsters come from the other levels of the game.

No idea if it's endless but a friend mentions that it has at least 50 floors.
