Remember when I said it was pointless to change the PSU again because it couldn't be that and you were like NO WAY and I was like YES WAY and then you ignored me and now LOOK AT YOU. Now you're thinking it's the graphic card (you think hardware, which is unlikely, but it could very well be shitty drivers) regardless of me telling you it's probably not that unless you have artifacts on the screen but you are like NO WAY again and I'm laughing hard at your face on top of lung.

We didn't even ask them to put a new one in, just run diagnostics on it.

It could be the graphics card. When the NVIDIA started going out, I remember having freezing problems, although not to the point to where I couldn't use the PC at all since it didn't always freeze.

We did a search, and graphics card problems can cause freezing. We'll make sure, though, of course. I'm going to ask my mom to put the graphics card in my Dell; if it freezes, then it's that.

We're still getting a new power supply (yes, another one), though, so we can have a good one. We're planning on getting what Qwerty suggested.

Also, we asked the guy about the motherboard; well, it's not a server motherboard. I think the guy at K-Valley was just trying to get us to buy a PC, which is what you said.

It's like my mom said: If they charged us, we would be more upset.

Qwerty, please don't. This is just getting very frustrating. I just don't get why we've been having all these problems with it.

I mean, it got "fixed", worked for the night (didn't really use it in the afternoon, as I went to a friend's house yesterday), part of the morning today, then... BAM! The freezing is back!

Like I said to Essen, if the Dell freezes when we put the graphics card from my PC to my Dell, then that's the problem.

Hey, Qwerty, remember when you asked me how old my PC was, and I said November 2008?

I made a mistake, and it was actually November 2007. I'm still not sure, though, but that's most likely it. Regardless, though, it's not that old.

Anyway...

Update - July 19th, 2010:

We took it it in again and told the owner it could be the either the graphics card or the motherboard, and the owner said something along the lines of, "We'll definitely get it fixed for you.".

Here's a small update. My mom called them before coming home about a few hours ago; it's freezing on them, too, but they're definitely going to pinpoint the problem and resolve it. It is most likely the video / graphics card and / or the motherboard.

Update:

So we got a call from Windy City Computers a little while ago -- it's the motherboard. I'm guessing all those pounds I did to get the rattling to stop when it was still working wasn't good for it. It must have caused power to surge to the motherboard and damage it. It could be something else, too, though.

Update - July 21st, 2010:

We got a call from them about 15 minutes ago, and it's not only just the motherboard, but the processor / processor chip, too (I'm not sure if both mean the same thing). It'll also need some more RAM to be compatible / support the new motherboard and CPU.

I guess I can say I'm not surprised -- my computer was built out of new and used parts, after all.

Anyway, now we're looking at:

Motherboard: Around $100.00
CPU / Processor: Around $100.00
RAM: Around $60.00

Total: Around $250.00

He's giving us a little break. :) Also, I'm not sure if it includes labor, but we're going in tomorrow. My mom can't really picture it -- she can make it out a bit more if she talks to him. That goes for anything.

EDIT: We're not entirely sure if the CPU is also the problem. They don't have the right motherboard, so, in order to make the one they have work, they need to replace the CPU.

Of course they don't know if the CPU is also the problem. In fact they don't know what is the problem, since they didn't have another motherboard to test! Dude seriously. At best they replaced all 3 to test and they can't be bothered to do more than that.

I can believe it. Like I said in the post, my PC was built out of new and used parts.

That's completely unrelated. People who know what they're doing don't buy a PC, they only buy parts, and reuse what doesn't need to be changed, or make new computers out of the unused parts they have. Doesn't mean a thing.

Update - July 22nd, 2010:

The problem is the motherboard for sure. Another problem is heat, but of a different form. The thermo glue that goes between the CPU and something else (I can't remember what he said) was basically all gone, and that area was overheating from what I understand.

Also, as mentioned before, the CPU will be replaced to work with the new motherboard. The current CPU (processor) could stay, but my mom says we may have problems again six months down the road, so it's better to just get a new CPU. I think it has to do with the current one not fitting right or something.

There was also something about overclocking, which was making the PC run faster than it should.

We're now looking at around $370.00, but we're basically getting a new computer -- with some exceptions, of course. Since the hard-drive and graphics card are fine, those are staying, as well as the new power supply they put in.

It's expected to be ready by next week.

They seem to think that the motherboard was faulty since I got the PC.

I should have updated you guys yesterday. Anyway, it's all fixed.

It was ready to pick up last night, but we couldn't, so we're picking it up during my mom's lunch hour later.

Yeah. But you can't have any.

This ice cream is apparently made using a "French pot process." I'm sure essen can explain this process to us.
